When embroidery becomes an act of collaboration, creativity, and engagement.
This year, MUMAQ is putting embroidery in the spotlight with the help of students at CÉGEP de Saint-Laurent. With this new project, participants were invited to transform their clothing by means of creative embroidery, all while reflecting on the nature of fast fashion and our global consumption habits.
📍 Vernissage on May 4th 2025 at the MUMAQ – Included in the price of admission.
🧵 A project supported by the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec, along with the CÉGEP de Saint-Laurent.
Accompanied by the multidisciplinary artisan Chloé Landreville, participants discovered the basics of contemporary embroidery with a focus on collaboration, creative thinking, and goodwill. The project also benefited from the gracious presence of Corine Caraminot, from the Cercle des fermières de Saint-Laurent, who shared her expertise and drove intergenerational dialogue.

Chloé Landreville
Une raton is the brainchild of Chloé Landreville, a lifelong artist. A jack-of-all-trades, Chloé has studied textile design, mastered screen-printing, worked on jewelry, knitted an incalculable number of tuques, sewn, painted, sculpted, dyed, danced, drawn – the list goes on! Every time her little hands express themselves through art, embroidery always seems to find a way back into her studio. This expression of emotions is her own. Her practice draws inspiration from the bounty of nature and her lived experiences, finding new ways to revive and recycle clothing.
Murphy Cooper
To conclude this adventure in design, the artist Murphy Cooper – well-known for his quirky and engaged approach to upcycling – visited the group and inspired them with his wit and boldness.
